Trust and safety
Background-checked. References-verified. Day-job credentialed.
Then we listen to the families.
The boring true things — what we check, what we keep, and what we do when something doesn't go right.
The vetting
The six gates a Sidekick clears before they meet you
- Background check. National criminal record check via a third-party provider. We pay for it. Sidekicks can't take a booking until it clears.
- Sex offender registry. National Sex Offender Public Registry, checked at onboarding and annually.
- References. Two minimum, called by a real person on our team. We ask the questions you'd ask.
- Two-minute video. Recorded by the Sidekick, reviewed by us, visible to you. We don't list anyone whose video we wouldn't watch ourselves.
- Signed agreements. Scope-of-work, mandated-reporter acknowledgment, and platform terms. Re-signed on every material change.
- Credential verification. RBT, DSP, paraeducator, special-education teacher — verified through the issuing board or employer where applicable.
Vetting families
What we check on your side
- Photo ID. Required from the primary account holder before the first booking confirms.
- Address verification. Geocoded match plus a utility bill if anything looks off.
- Sex offender registry. National check on the primary account holder. Registered offenders can't book.
- Optional home walkthrough video. Some Sidekicks appreciate seeing the space before they accept. You can record it once and we'll show it to matched Sidekicks.
Boundaries
What's not in scope
We want to be plain about this. The people we list are operating as qualified Sidekicks when they take a booking, not in their professional roles. They:
- • Do not administer medication.
- • Do not run formal behavior plans or write session notes.
- • Do not hold themselves out as providing services that belong in a clinic or school.
- • Do retain their personal mandated-reporter obligations under Idaho law.
When things go wrong
The Need Help button
There's a one-tap Need Help button on both sides of the app. It pages our on-call line. We respond within the hour. We follow up in writing within 24 hours. We file an incident report on every issue, no matter how small.
If a Sidekick's account is involved, we pause it pending review. You don't have to argue with us about that — it's automatic.
Your data
What we keep and how we keep it
Your kid's profile is sensitive. We treat it that way.
- • Sidekicks only see the profile after a booking is confirmed and within the booking window.
- • Photo IDs and other documents live in encrypted storage. Only our team can access them.
- • We follow Idaho's data breach notification statute (Idaho Code §28-51-104 et seq.).
- • You can ask for your data and we'll send it. You can ask us to delete it after closing your account.
Common questions about trust & safety
- Are Sidekicks background-checked?
- Yes. National criminal record check and the National Sex Offender Public Registry, paid for by us. Sidekicks cannot take a booking until both clear. We re-check annually.
- What does the 6-gate vetting process include?
- (1) National criminal background check. (2) National Sex Offender Public Registry check. (3) Two reference calls made by a real person on our team. (4) Reviewed two-minute video interview. (5) Signed agreements about scope of work. (6) Verification of the professional credential on the Sidekick's profile (RBT, DSP, paraeducator, or special-education teacher).
- How do you verify professional credentials?
- We require a credential ID, issuing organization, and a proof document (license, certification, or employer letter) at Sidekick onboarding. A team member verifies through the issuing board where applicable before the Sidekick can match.
- What if something goes wrong during a booking?
- There is a one-tap Need Help button on both sides of the app. It pages our on-call line. We respond within the hour and follow up in writing within 24 hours. We file an incident report on every issue.
- Who can see my child's profile?
- Sidekicks only see the profile after a booking is confirmed and only within the booking window. Photo IDs and other documents live in encrypted storage and are accessible only to our team.
- Do Sidekicks administer medication or run behavior plans?
- No. Sidekicks do not administer medication, do not run formal behavior plans, do not chart sessions. Their professional credentials stay with their day jobs. If a Sidekick ever represents a booking as anything else, tell us.
The trust is the only thing we can't manufacture.
So we earn it the slow way. Book your first Sidekick when you're ready.
